We are excited to announce that we will be holding half-day workshops in Brisbane prior to the Associations Forum National Conference. From years of combined expertise, Associations Forum understands the inner workings of associations and charities and how to achieve maximum efficiency.

These educational workshops, based on the numerous workshops Associations Forum holds every year, will give you a better understanding of association Governance, Finances or Membership.

Association Governance Workshop

An association Director’s or Councillor’s responsibilities are considerable, yet the experience, knowledge and connections gained from this important role can be immense. Our Governance Workshop will enable Directors, Councillors and Committee members from the governing body of associations and charities to better perform their role and duties.

Associations Forum has conducted hundreds of governance sessions with Boards of associations and charities. We understand how associations and charities are different from commercial and government entities, often with a devoted membership base. From our years of experience working with associations and charities and by understanding the context in which they work, we have developed this highly-relevant, practical and interactive one-day workshop.

Association Membership Workshop

Members play two structural roles in associations – as voting stakeholders and as paying customers. In fact, members are even more than this. Members are the soul of an association and are the source of volunteers, who either run the association or govern it via the Board.

This practical workshop will examine why members are so important to the vitality of an association and strategies on how to recruit, retain, serve and keep members satisfied with your association.

Association Finances Workshop

Association Directors often join a Board because they are passionate about their industry or profession, yet they may not have financial training in their career roles. Similarly, some association managers may have moved into their roles due to their technical expertise related to the association. This workshop will equip attendees with knowledge and confidence as they address matters regarding association finances.

Session 1: Overview of association finances from AF Financial Benchmarking
Session 2: Accounting principles, processes, budgeting and reporting
Session 3: Practical tips and attitudes for growing financial strength
